Apply Indian Passport Online

A Passport is an essential travel document for those who are traveling abroad for education, pilgrimage, tourism, business purposes, medical attendance and family visits.

All Indian citizens who depart or intend to depart from India are required to be in possession of a valid passport or travel document. Under the Passports Act 1967.

The Government of India may issue different types of passports and travel documents such as Ordinary Passport, Diplomatic Passport, Official Passport, Emergency Certificate and Certificate of Identity for the purpose.

Following three types of passports are issued in India :

Ordinary Passport : An ordinary passport has blue cover, and consists of 36 or 60 pages. It is valid for 10 years from the date of issue and can be renewed for another 10 years. An Indian citizen can use this passport for ordinary vacation or business travel.

Diplomatic Passport : Has maroon cover ; Issued to designated members of the national government, judiciary , statutory authorities, diplomats, official public couriers and any other person specifically authorized by the Govt

Official Passport : Has grey cover ; Issued to designated Non-gazetted govt servants or any other person specifically authorised by the Govt deputed abroad on government business.

Below is the process for applying Passport Online or Online Form Submission for Passport :

Step 1 : Register through the Passport Seva Online Portal. (Click on “Register Now” link on the Home Page).

Step 2 : Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the registered Login Id.

Step 3 : Click “Apply for Fresh Passport / Re-issue of Passport” link.

Step 4 : Fill in the required details in the form and submit.

Step 5 : Click the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link on the “View Saved/Submitted Applications” screen to schedule an appointment.

Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all Passport Seva Kendras/Passport Offices.

Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes:

Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa)
Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) and Associate Banks and Other Banks)
SBI Bank Challan

Step 6 : Click the “Print Application Receipt” link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.

Note: Carrying printout of Application Receipt is no longer required. An SMS with your appointment details is also accepted as proof of appointment during your visit to Passport Office.

Step 7 : Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents.

Note:Only emergency / medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.

In case of minor applicants (below 4 years of age), carry the recent passport size photograph (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background.

Re-submission of application form is required, in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.

Track Passport Application Status Online :

Step 1 : —> Click Here to track the status of your Passport Application online – find status of your Passport Application online

Step 2 :To Track Application Status –> Select Application Type –> Passport/ PCC/ IC/ GEP (or) RTI (or) Diplomatic/ Official Application (or) Surrender Certificate

Step 3 : Enter File Number ( A file number is an unique Alphanumeric number for each application before getting the passport. A file number can be used to track the status of your passport and it can be shown as reference for any queries related to your passport.)

Step 4 : Date of Birth —> select your date of birth
