Naivedyam-Palaharam Offered To Bathukamma
Floral festival-Bathukamma represents the cultural spirit of Telangana. Bathukamma is celebrated by the women of telangana. For the nine days, in the evening, women, girls, gather in large numbers with their Bathukammas in open areas and form a circle around the Bathukamma and start singing folk songs by clapping their hands and revolving around the Bathukamma.
In Nine days of Bathukamma, each day home made Naivedyam-Palaharam is offered to Bathukamma.
9 Days Of Bathukamma Festival And Naivedyam-Palaharam Offered To Bathukamma :
Engili Pula Bathukamma : First day of Bathukamma is called as Engili Pula Bathukamma, It falls on Mahalaya Amavasya, also known as Pethara Amavasya in Telangana region.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Engili Pula Bathukamma Day : Nuvvulu(Sesame seeds) with biyyampindi(rice flour) or nookalu(coarsely ground wet rice).
Atkula Bathukamma : Second day of Bathukamma is called as Atkula bathukamma, It falls on the Padyami (first day) of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Atkula Bathukamma Day : Sappidi pappu(Bland boiled lentils), Bellam (jaggery), and atkulu (flattened parboiled rice)
Muddapappu Bathukamma : Third day of Bathukamma is called as Muddapappu Bathukamma, It falls on Vidiya/second day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Muddapappu Bathukamma Day : muddapappu (softened boiled lentils), milk and bellam(jaggery)
Nanabiyyam Bathukamma : Fourth day of Bathukamma is called as Nanabiyyam Bathukamma, It falls on thidiya/third day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Nanabiyyam Bathukamma Day : nananesina biyyam (wet rice), milk, and bellam (jaggery)
Atla Bathukamma : Fifth day of Bathukamma is called as Atla Bathukamma, It falls on the chathurdi/fourth day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Atla Bathukamma Day : uppidi pindi atlu( pan cakes made from wheatlets), or Dosa.
Aligina Bathukamma : Sixth day of Bathukamma is called as Aligina Bathukamma, It falls on the panchami/fifth day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Aligina Bathukamma Day : No food offering is made.
Vepakayala Bathukamma : Seventh day of Bathukamma is called as Vepakayala Bathukamma, It falls on the sashti/sixth day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Vepakayala Bathukamma Day : rice flour shaped into the fruits of neem tree is deep fried.
Vennamuddala Bathukamma : Eight day of Bathukamma is called as Vennamuddala Bathukamma, It falls on sapthami/seventh day of Ashwayuja masam.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Vennamuddala Bathukamma Day : nuvvulu(sesame), Venna(Butter) or ghee(clarified butter), and bellam(jaggery).
Saddula Bathukamma : Ninth day of bathukamma is called as Saddula Bathukamma, It is celebrated on ashtami/eight day of Ashwayuja masam, and coincides with Durgashtami.
Food Offering-Naivedyam On Saddula Bathukamma Day : Five types of cooked rice dishes: perugannam saddi(curd rice), chinthapandu pulihora saddi(tamarind rice), nimmakaya saddi(lemon rice), kobbara saddi(coconut rice) and nuvvula saddi(sesame rice).
